Welcome to the show. Eklund never answered my request to be the new blogger.
Unless the Sens are able to surprise and trade for a true #1 centre, I'd be ok picking Jesper Wallstedt. All the forwards and d-men seem to be top 9F / Top 4-6D options. The Sens have plenty of those. Jesper Wallstedt seems to have a possible high ceiling. Take the gamble. Crummy year to have a top 10 pick, but is what it is. The later rounds will likely produce quite a few surprising in what has been a weird scouting year. |

Thanks for stopping by and reading. I truly think they want to Norris every opportunity to be the Number 1 guy and keep that line together as much as possible. A number 2 center would be ideal at this point as White doesn't seem he will ever live up to the potential. I agree with you, with this draft comes so much uncertainty and sadly.....guessing at times as you get into round 2 etc....

I'd have been more on board with Henrique had one of Ottawa's skaters been snagged by Seattle.
Now though, even with retained salary, I'm not so sure. Mostly due to his age / contract length. |

i've been saying on twitter.....they should trade #10 and L. Brown to the rangers for #15 and Strome. adds the 2nd line center, and knowing they like to go off the board, they can prob still get whoever they're targeting at 15 |

Strome is not a 2c in any way, he is a 3c who is only slightly better than Tierny that has had in numbers inflated by panarin, without panarin he is not good. not worth trading down 5 spots for a 3c that OTT had plenty of |

You will need more than a 2nd and a prospect to get Reinhart. It will take the 1st and a very good prospect. Maybe not Pinto but likely Grieg or Thomsson. |

I’d think with the rumoured ask for players like Eichel and Risto, Sam would cost you your first rounder this year. Not saying thats good value but I think that would be Adams ask, especially if he’s being traded in the division. |

I think trades are really hard to do. In order to play you need the cap space for starters. Most teams want picks, prospects or entry level salaries in exchange for higher salaried players coming back.
I would be okay with the Sens giving up picks for Reinhardt. But, if the Sens give up picks plus for Reinhardt...maybe they take an even bigger step up and go all in for Eichel.
Would something in the range of Sanderson, Tierney, Logan Brown plus a 1st and 2nd from this draft be fair? Sens have multiple players that they could interchange out of that offer as sweeteners. But, the heart of the offer is Sanderson plus a 1st and 2nd. It is an awful lot. Really hard for the Rangers, or any other team, to match this kind of offer.

Definitely his age could be an issue in year 3 if you trade for him. But you would be getting a highly motivated player with a fresh start and playing with solid talent. Who has he played with in Anaheim? Just a thought.

Depending how things shake out with the first 8 or 9 picks, it could very well be a solid move short term. |

It's fine if they want to let Norris mature in his role. I struggle with the argument of adding a #2 centre on a team with quite a few centre options already. Rumored guys like Strom, Kadri, Henrique, and Dvorak are ok players, but don't really add anything significant to the lineup other than a bit of depth and more of a household name. I'd almost rather experiment with guys like Pinto/L.Brown/heck even Stu if the organization wants him at centre in the #2C position instead of adding hefty contracts. |

What it boils too is if Ottawa can't get option 1 or option 2 at center, then you bring in Strome and move him at the deadline with the hopes that Pinto is ready to go after a chunk of time in the AHL. But yes, it's all who you play with. Look no further than Dadonov, he played with Huberdeau and Barkov and cashed in on a 3 year 15 mil deal.

Would you trade Reinhart straight up for Colin White? Granato had White with the US Development program and they know each other well. Could be a nice fit?

Nick Foligno back to the Sens? - Octavarium
Age and possible injury problems have been creeping up no Nick lately. I think there are better options out there.

You would be better off including Colin White I think....plus the Granato connection with White doesnt hurt either. But I like your idea!

Stutzle is the wild card for sure. He they try him at center, then all bets are off. But I do think a short term solution at center is needed. Avs won't move Kadri especially with Landeskog all but gone via free agency.
